When my parents first moved to Magnolia their milk was delivered by the Magnolia Dairy Farm whose cows grazed in the grassy fields around Catherine Blaine Elementary and trolley car tracks came out Government Way to the east gate of Fort Lawton (Discovery Park). My parents bought their first home in Magnolia for one thousand eight hundred dollars. The three lots next door sold for $200 each. Buildable lots now sell for anywhere from $250,000 to $1,200,000. My milk is still delivered to the house, but by Smith Brothers Farms. Some things stay the same while others change.
I attended Magnolia Elementary, Catherine Blaine Jr. High, Queen Anne High School and graduated from the University of Washington School of Business with a concentration in Marketing. I am an Associate Broker/Commercial Broker, Licensed Real Estate Instructor, Volunteer Services Board member at University of Washington Hospital, member of Magnolia Chamber of Commerce and member of Magnolia Historical Society.
